Wajima City, located at the tip of the Noto Peninsula, is famous for its morning market. Every morning, about 200 stalls line the street and visitors are greeted by shouts of “Kote kuda!” (“Please purchase our products” in the local dialect) Visit Shiroyone to the east of the city to see terraced rice paddies. Learn about the history and culture of Satoyama-satoumi in Noto
A typical landscape of Noto Satoyama-satoumi that has been designated as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). The more than 1,000 terraced rice paddies along the coastline are the fruit of the wisdom and hard work of past generations.
Works of art collected by the village headman are on exhibit here. The main building, which was constructed in the Meiji period, is splendid.
