Anamizu Town is located to the north of Nanao Bay and has flourished as a transportation hub since long ago. American astronomer Percival Lowell who visited during the Meiji period was fascinated by the beauty of the area, and introduces it in his book Noto. Our town looks out onto a calm inland sea and features distinctive history and culture. Why don’t you come and visit?
Head to Nakai, where the Nakai Kiriko Festival is held.
Follow the history of Nakai, which has flourished through its metal-casting industry, and visit historical temples and shrines in the town.
Learn about the history of casting in the town, as well as valuable heritage items such as lanterns and bells.
A promenade leading to seven temples and two shrines including Jifukuin Temple, which features a 750-year-old Rakan tree.
A watchtower that was used to keep a lookout for mullets. Percival Lowell likened the figure to the nest of the mythical bird “roc”.
An ancient temple of the Shingon Sect of Buddhism, related to Kobo Daishi (a Buddhist priest). Precious cultural assets can be found here, such as a five-storey stone pagoda (designated as a national important cultural asset).
